My Background
The turning point in my life came when my twin brother died, when we were 22. That booted me out of my comfort zone. My journey was slow at first because I took a physical route, travelling to and round Australia, but gradually I learnt that the more rewarding adventures are the inner journeys, and I now wholeheartedly believe that our most painful experiences are our best teachers. Coming to terms with our own mortality is a fantastically useful achievement.
I became interested in alternative therapies when I had illnesses which couldn’t be addressed by conventional medicine, although when I gave birth I was very grateful for western medicine. So I do acknowledge there is a place for surgery, but I’m very wary of it and of allopathic drugs. Most of my clients turn to alternatives as a last resort, having had distressing or frustrating experiences with conventional medicine.
I’ve earned a living as a Press & P.R. Officer in theatres, then as a holistic therapist. Back in 2003 and then for the last eight years I’ve had both paid and voluntary work as a therapist at St. Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield, providing treatments for the patients and their relatives and carers. I have worked for South Yorkshire Police, providing Reiki, Seichem, Indian head massage and stress management workshops. I’ve worked voluntarily for the Lone Twin Network and Sheffield Eating Disorders Group.
How I got here
Timeline
1991 Onwards – Buddhist Classes
I started going to Buddhist classes 26 years ago and have read voraciously on health and quantum healing. I like to encourage clients and students to become responsible for their own health and well being and when appropriate, I try to empower my clients as well as nurture them.
1996 -Sheffield Hallam University
In 1996 I did a short counselling course at Sheffield Hallam University.
1997 – Reiki and Seichem
In 1997 I was attuned to Reiki and Seichem.
1999 – Deepak Chopra 5 Days in California
In 1999 I attended a five-day Deepak Chopra course in La Jolla, California. For the past decade Deepak Chopra M.D. has been at the forefront of a major trend in holistic healing. Since the early 1980s Chopra has successfully combined his impeccable credentials as a practising endocrinologist with his exploration of mind/body medicine. His writing has been published in 24 countries and he lectures widely in the USA, Europe, India, Japan and Russia. In 1999 Time magazine selected Dr. Chopra as one of the Top 100 Icons and Heroes of the Century
2001 – Journey With Brandon Bays
In 2001 I read ‘The Journey’ by Brandon Bays, and went on her weekend seminar in London. Having been diagnosed with a tumour the size of a basketball, Brandon found a way to shed it, so that 7 weeks later she was tumour-free, without the aid of either drugs or surgery and she now teaches her techniques.

2002 – Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage with Kush Kumar
I began an ITEC Indian head massage course, but rejected it as being too ordinary, and in 2002 I learnt Ayurvedic Indian head massage from Kush Kumar. Mr. Kumar is Principal of the Confederation of Ayurvedic Therapy.
2002 – Further Studies in Lancashire
The same year I attended a Touch For Health course in Lancashire, led by Penny Roberts, a leading kinesiologist.
2005 – Animal Communication Study
In 2005 I attended a weekend course in Animal Communication, led by Amelia Kinkade, one of America’s top psychics and animal communicators.
2015 – Global compassion sumit.
In 2015 I attended the Global Compassion Summit, The Official World Celebration of His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s 80th Birthday, in California. My friend Julia Ormond was on the panel with His Holiness, so we were in a select few to have breakfast with the Dalai Lama, followed by a private audience, and we attended a special lunch for him on the final day of the conference.
