The turning point in my life came when my twin brother died, when we were 22. That booted me out of my comfort zone. My journey was slow at first because I took a physical route, travelling to and round Australia, but gradually I learnt that the more rewarding adventures are the inner journeys, and I now wholeheartedly believe that our most painful experiences are our best teachers. Coming to terms with our own mortality is a fantastically useful achievement.

I became interested in alternative therapies when I had illnesses which couldn’t be addressed by conventional medicine, although when I gave birth I was very grateful for western medicine, as I had to have a Caesarean Section. So I do acknowledge there is a place for surgery, but I’m very wary of it and allopathic drugs. Most of my clients turn to alternatives as a last resort, having had distressing or frustrating experiences with conventional medicine.

I’ve earned a living as a Press & P.R. Officer in theatres, then as a holistic therapist. I have worked voluntarily for the Lone Twin Network; the Gyaltsabje Buddhist Centre; Sheffield Eating Disorders Group and St. Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield.

*In 1990 I attended a Shakti Gawain weekend workshop in London.

Deepak Chopra
*In 1999 I attended a five-day Deepak Chopra course in La Jolla, California. For the past decade Deepak Chopra M.D. has been at the forefront of a major trend in holistic healing. Since the early 1980s Chopra has successfully combined his impeccable credentials as a practising endocrinologist with his exploration of mind/body medicine. His writing has been published in 24 countries and he lectures widely in the USA, Europe, India, Japan and Russia. In 1999 Time magazine selected Dr. Chopra as one of the Top 100 Icons and Heroes of the Century.

*In 2001 I read ‘The Journey’ by Brandon Bays, and went on her weekend seminar in London. Having been diagnosed with a tumour the size of a basketball, Brandon found a way to shed it, so that 7 weeks later she was tumour-free, without the aid of either drugs or surgery and she now teaches her techniques.

*I began an ITEC Indian head massage course, but rejected it as being too ordinary, and in 2002 I learnt Ayurvedic Indian head massage from Kush Kumar. Mr. Kumar is Principal of the Confederation of Ayurvedic Therapy.

*The same year I attended a Touch For Health course in Lancashire, led by Penny Roberts, a leading kinesiologist.

*In 2004 I studied BodyTalk in Nottingham, with Olivia Pinto and with Gilly Adkin in 2005. BodyTalk is a new energy therapy which draws on the principles of Chinese medicine, quantum physics and kinesiology.

*In 2005 I attended a weekend course in Animal Communication, led by Amelia Kinkade, one of America’s top psychics and animal communicators.

*I started going to Buddhist classes 16 years ago and have read voraciously on health and quantum healing. I like to encourage clients and students to become responsible for their own health and well being and when appropriate, I try to empower my clients as well as nurture them.
